This afternoon students reviewed their understanding of fractions by drawing and comparing fractions with the same denominator. Then students began to look at fractions as part of a number line. This was a tricky concept for students, and is one that we will revisit over the next few days. Ask your student what is a fraction, and which fraction is bigger - 1/4 or 3/4?
Today we started discussing out next read aloud, The Tale of Despereaux. While looking at the definition of "tale" as a story, we noticed that "tale" and "tail" sound the same but are different words. This led to a conversation about homonyms! Ask your student what a homonym is, and please send any examples you think of to school for our class list!
Quick reminders!
Have a wonderful evening,
- Ms. Bell
