Coding Club

Welcome to Coding Club! The purpose of this club is to have fun. Well, and to learn, I guess. Mostly though, you will learn how to 'talk computer'. You'll tell the computer what to do, when to do it, and you'll craft some form of an application that can be enjoyed by all.

At the end of the club we will celebrate by inviting classes in to participate in our Coding Club Arcade, where we show off our games, and our audience (the kids of Evergreen School and the kids of the internet) will celebrate what we've learned.

To accomplish this, we are going to use a programming language called Scratch. Because this can be done completely from your browser, you can start designing something at school and finish up when you get home. Please follow the links below to start programming and to get some additional information.

Get Started!: Click on the cat to be taken directly to the Scratch web page! It is highly suggested that you use any and all of the things there to help you get started. For example, if you scroll down on the Scratch web page there are video tutorials, instruction books, and more things to get you rolling on your first program!

The Hour of Code: The video below is absolutely fantastic! Get fired up about coding from Shakira (an outstanding singer), Zuckerberg (the guy that made Facebook), Steve Jobs (Apple Computer fame), or President Obama (of the United States). If you are ready to move past coding in Scratch and to learn about Java, HTML, and other such languages here!
