Today we continued our discussions of non-fiction features by doing a scavenger hunt! Students looked for the title, headings, bold text, the index, glossary, photographs and captions, among others. See if your student can find one in a book at home!
We also continued to use non-fiction features while reading Who Would Win? Today we made notes as we compared the Hammerhead and Bull shark. Then students wrote an opinion paragraph saying why they thought one would win. Students were a little surprised by the winner, ask your student who won and why!
Thank you to all the volunteers for the field trip to the Bell Music Centre! We have the perfect number now. I am still looking for people to join us for Fish Creek on January 31st (don't worry, much of the day will be spent participating in hands-on activities in the Educational Centre) and skating on February 6, 8 and 14. Please email me if you can make it.
Please send in any field trip forms, report cards and Scholastic orders!
Have a wonderful evening!
- Ms. Bell
