A message from Grade 2:
It is that time of year again to start going through your child's toys and books. The grade 2s will be hosting a TOY AND BOOK SALE to support Stephen's Backpack Society on December 3, 2015 for the entire day. Please send in any gently used toys and/or books starting on December 1. The items may be brought to any grade 2 classroom or dropped off at the office. We will also take cash donations.
All of the money raised this year will be used to purchase backpacks filled with items liked books, toothbrushes, and toys for children that live on the streets in Calgary. For more information about this program please go to the Stephen's Backpack Society at http://www.stephensbackpacks.com.
What did you learn in school today?
The kids were very excited to have their regular gym time back with Mrs. Roworth, even though Alien Inline was very fun. We started our unit on basketball. What can your child tell you about how to dribble a ball correctly?
This afternoon, we did some challenges and experiments with flashlights to create shadows. We tried to make the longest shadow possible and measure it, try to make a lighter shadow and a darker shadow at the same time with two flashlights, and tried to eliminate a shadow altogether.

Click HERE for some online activities with light and shadow. What happens to the glass objects? Why?
Hope you have some interesting dinner table conversations!
Best,
Mrs. Maronese
