Dear Families,
Welcome back!
My name is Lee Ann Maronese and I will be your child’s teacher for the upcoming school year!
I have teaching experience in South Korea, Ontario and this will be my seventh year teaching here in Calgary. I have been so very lucky to teach at Evergreen for the past three years. I love teaching through hands on activities, making science a favourite. In my personal life, I love spending time hiking with my family, and I’m a bit of a bookworm. I can’t wait to meet your children and share learning with them this year!
I believe that you are your child’s first and most important teacher. Communication between home and school is very important. The best way to contact me is through email. My email is [email protected] . If ever you have questions, I am here to help.
First Day
To ensure that the first day goes as smoothly as possible, we have a few recommendations. First, we recommend that you park further away and walk your child to school as we have 2 drop-off zones this year, and we expect it will be fairly congested on the first day. If you are using the drop-off zone, please remember it is a “Kiss and Drop” spot and that parking will not be permitted. If your child is taking the bus we have enclosed bus maps for both busses A and B.
On Tuesday, September 1st, students and parents can arrive at school between 7:45 and 8:00am and will find our new classrooms in the wing closest to the playground. We are in room 81. Students are encouraged to enter through the B doors as those will be their regular doors. Students will go straight to their classroom where we will collect information about before and after school care, bussing, and lunch.
We have attached a map of the school to help you find your child’s classroom. Regular school hours are from 8:00am to 2:45pm, Monday to Thursday and 8:00am to 11:15am on Fridays. Please set up a meeting place with your child on the compound as the grade 4 children will be entering and exiting through the B doors. In the event that you or your child is not at your meeting place, you will meet at the office.
On the first day of school students are encouraged to bring indoor shoes, a lunch kit, a healthy snack, a water bottle, and a willingness to learn! To guarantee that you will get all items back, parents are strongly encouraged to label all their child’s items. Please note that backpack labels should be on the inside, not the outside. Thanks in advance!
Here is to an amazing year!
Best,
Lee Ann Maronese
