There was a sea of green in the school today. A beautiful color after the snow we had.
Math:
Today students continued to fill in their multiplication tables with a dice rolling game. I noticed that many students started making connections about the numbers they were rolling, as well as patterns that were starting to emerge. All these will come in handy when they start applying their mental math skills to problem solving.
Writing - Mrs. Redd's and Mrs. Predika's classes:
Today in writing, students saw their teacher break down and cry. Actually, this was a writing exercise where I acted out "sad" and the students had to describe what I was doing. This is a fun activity where students can further understand the concept of "show, don't tell" in their writing. So instead of writing, "Ms Lauf was sad.", students were coming up with phrases such as, "gasping with tears" and "hands covering her face". Students were then challenged to think about their special object and a time when they were using it and show in their writing that moment.
Question of the day:
What is your favorite shade of green?
