Hello!
It is May already. With that, the trees are definitely showing their green, flowers are blooming, and the robins and finches are singing up a storm at 4 in the morning. All lovely sights and sounds!

Writing
This week, we will be focusing on Character development, in particular character traits. Students have explored picture books, and written down the traits they believe their character has based on the story. They are also learning the difference between character traits (how someone behaves) versus physical traits (how someone physically looks).
Math
In math, we have started with division. This is an area many students feel nervous about, because they have heard so often that "division is hard". We discussed how when we hear that something is difficult, that we believe that we can't do it, when in fact we are completely capable of doing it. We discussed all the math activities we have done that have had division in it, and they have been dividing all along. Or perhaps when they are playing games, or sharing something, that we are dividing. We discussed how dividing is separating objects/people into equal groups. We will continue working on division through games and activities, and always tie it into real life situations.
Tomorrow is the Glenbow Museum Field Trip for Mrs. Redd's and Mrs. Predika's classes. I will be going with them for this exciting adventure, where students will be learning about artifacts from the four countries we are studying.
Please enjoy this beautiful weather we are having!
