Math:
In math this week, we are working on Division Camp! This is were students are given division word problems, solving the problems, then using their answers to create a summer camp map.
For example:
Students have to pull out the important information, know where the numbers go in the division equation, and then use a favorite strategy to solve. Some students are drawing out the groupings, others are using a multiplication table to solve.
Students are getting excited to plan out their camps!
Writing:
We continue working on our fiction stories. Students are really using their skills they have learned this year, such as how to start your story off with a bang (dialogue, a wonder/worry, a sound effect, or Action 1-2-3). To build their story up, they are encouraged to visualize their story, stop the action, then describe it. It helps to talk it out. Some students have created puppets to help their story.
