Hello Families,
I apologize that the blog hasn't been updated. I have been away from school with some physical complications. I'm back and will be for as long as I am able. I spoke to the students about it today. They are all wonderfully empathetic and helpful.
What Did You Learn in School Today?
Today we had a new kit of artifacts from Glenbow museum come to visit our class. We are exploring the fur trade in Alberta and Canada from multiple perspectives. Today we learned a little about some key personalities from our past.

Examine the picture below of voyageurs on a portage (crossing land).

Examine the picture below of voyageurs on a portage (crossing land).
Count all of the packs the voyageurs are carrying. If they weighed approximately 80 pounds each, how much weight are they carrying altogether?
What can your child tell you about the amount of time voyageurs worked each day, their pay and what kind of food they ate? Would you rather canoe or portage? Why?
Hope this gives you some interesting dinner table conversation!
Best,
Mrs. Maronese
AN IMPORTANT NOTE FROM MRS. H-McDee:
Below please find the script for our Grade 3 and 4 musical Actors Auditions. Auditions will be held at Lunch on Tuesday April 12 for interested Grade 4 students and Wednesday April 13th for interested Grade 3 students. All students take part in the June musical but only 30 acting roles are available for the show. If your child receives an acting role they must be available to perform June 8th or 9th depending on their show day. The script below does not need to be memorized for the audition, but should be familiar enough that your child can look up from the page and read the lines with expression. Please email any questions to Mrs. Henderson-McDade at [email protected]
Thank you and I wish you all a wonderful audition!!
"A KID’S LIFE"
Actors Audition Script
KID:I can’t move.
That was the scariest story I’ve ever heard.
GRANDPA / GRANDMA:(matter of factly) Yup well, there you go.
I don’t know why you kids are all so jumpy.
You know, I have something right here that will fix jumpy! (holding a skipping rope) Ta Da!
KID:You’re not going to try to get us to jump rope are you?
GRANDPA / GRANDMA:Sure! Jumping rope can be a lot of fun, and an important part of a kid’s life.
KID:Ah…Jumping rope is for little kids.
GRANDPA / GRANDMA:(shocked) Little kids! You happen to be looking at the 1957 Jump Rope Champion of Okotoks County!
KID:You? You used to jump rope?
GRANDPA / GRANDMA:Used to? What’s all this about “used to”?
KID:(shocked) No…you…are…not!
GRANDPA / GRANDMA:You bet I am!
