What a weather day! Soak in that warmth and sunshine!
Math:
Students learned about using a ruler and measuring the perimeter of different shapes, using centimeters. Students are learning to always include the unit of measurement when they are solving math problems. They also learned which strategies work best when measuring objects larger than their ruler.
Writing - Mrs. Hordyk's and Mr. Mackenzie's classes:
Students finished up their simile and metaphor writing. It is always interesting reading the comparisons they come up with. Ask your child what similes and metaphors they wrote about themselves.
Writing - Mrs. Redd's and Mrs. Predika's classes:
Students continue to write their Colour Poems on the computer. They are choosing to write their poems in the color they are writing about, and then they will illustrate them. They are also adding the new descriptive words and objects into their Words Words Words book for future use.
Question of the day:
Math: How would you figure out the general perimeter of an object that wasn't a standard shape, like a shoe or a hand?
Writing: Write a simile or metaphor about how someone you love makes you feel.
Cheers!
