Today in Math, we played a game called Connect Four Multiplication. This game is based on the exciting game Connect Four. Instead of red or yellow chips, students had to solve multiplication questions to create their line of four. The first player places 2 paperclips on 2 numbers in the number strip below the board. Strategy comes in when they either pick a number first on the board and then figure out which 2 numbers make that product, or they can randomly pick 2 numbers and solve the answer. They then colour in the number. The next player moves the paperclips to figure out their answer. Students must say the number sentence out loud before coloring in. This is an engaging game to play to get the math facts rolling off the tongue.
