What Did You Learn School Today?
Thank you, thank you, thank you to the families who donated bikes for our simple machines project. We really appreciate it. Today, we turned a bike up onto its handle bars and seat. Turning the wheels, we could see how the wheels, axels and gears interact to move a bicycle. We also changed gears to see just why it is easy to pedal in a lower gear but why you have to turn the pedals so much more to go the same distance as a higher gear.
We went back to our classroom and using Lego We Do kits we began building our prototypes.
Check out some of our work so far!

Home Learning
Have a look at a bicycle at home. Have your child explain how it works to move someone forward. How do the brakes work?
Hope this gives you some interesting dinner table conversation and some dirty hands!
Best,
Mrs. Maronese
