Today we continued reading Ticket to Curlew as a class and completed chapters 3 and 4 along with questions that resulted in fruitful dialogue about early life in Alberta. We talked about life in early Alberta and made comparisons with modern-day life. Students reflected on these comparisons and journaled their thoughts in terms of things they are grateful for.
Students seemed to enjoy the activity involving planting our Tyme plants, as we will also be integrating the study of plants into our science classes. We have the seeds planted and are incubated in our in-school growing area in preparation for transplanting them into our clay pots that we will be decorating later this week.
We completed our Decimal and Fraction Bingo today and will be continuing to practice using decimals tomorrow with testing our cars using incline planes to measure the coasting distance. We will be looking at the different factors that influence coasting different such as various kinds of frictional forces, aerodynamics and efficiency in construction.
Thanks,
Mr. Smith.
