The students spent some more time practicing multiplication through expanded notation as well. By learning this method first, the students will be able to understand what is actually happening when they are completing the traditional algorithm. For example, we have 345x6, students could easily multiply 300x6, 40x6, and 5x6 and then add up the answers.
