The students in room 82 have been working on a story writing project in language arts. Students have been encouraged to develop their own idea for a story using strategies learned in class (i.e. MASH or a picture prompt), plan the story using a graphic organizer, draft the story, edit the story using a class developed editing checklist, revise the story and publish their story all within five days. The stories are coming along and it is interesting to see what students have learned about narrative writing. We will soon be moving onto explore the persuasive form of writing.
Students are also exploring the history of Alberta and the fur trade. We are lucky to have a social studies kit on loan from the Glenbow, which allows students to learn about the Fur Trade through lessons that utilize historical artifacts, photographs and lessons that encourage them to behave as historians and researchers.
We are also in the final stages of our shadow plays as part of our light and shadow unit in science. Students will be performing for an audience within the next week.
Please see the prior blog post pertaining to grade 3 and 4 auditions for the upcoming musical.
See you all tomorrow!
