We had an exciting day with the arrival of Hakuna Matata, our class pet. During his stay with us all students will have a chance to help care for him.
In Math today we had an assessment to show what we know about geometry. This assessment allows me to see what areas we need some more practice with, and which areas we understand clearly. Students are bringing home their assessment from our patterning unit. Pleas look for this in your child’s backpack or communication folder.
In Social Studies students worked on putting their posters together and composing their paragraphs for their sub topics. They are using the rubric to guide their work and know what criteria to include in their posters.
In Writing today students listened to a poetic picture book titled Secret Dawn. The first time I read the book I did not show any illustrations. Students responded to the text by creating the images that they heard and saw in their heads in their visual journals. I then read the book again this time showing the pictures while students recorded some of the rich vocabulary onto their illustrations.
For homework tonight:
Please read for 15 minutes
Spelling test is on Friday
Please return swimming and briar consent forms as soon as possible.
I will be sending home information for our volunteers on Friday.
If you would still like to volunteer for swimming please send me an email.
Thank you, and have a wonderful evening.
