Today during our reading response time students generated their own questions. We worked to develop three different kinds of questions.
1. Right there questions, where the answer is on one page and you can point with your finger to the answer to the questions.
2 Think and Search questions, where the answer is in the text but you have to think and search through the book to find the answer to the question.
3. On my own question, these questions are the kind that require students to use the information in the text to make inferences.
We will continue to work on generating questions tomorrow.
In Social Studies, we continued to research our regions. We have started a running list of questions that we may have as we continue with our research. We also had some time at the end of Social Studies to reflect on what we learned and wrote about what we learned through our research in a reflection piece. As we continue with our research we will spend time reflecting on our learning and writing down the information in our own words. This will help to add voice to the students non-fiction writing as they start to explain what they learned in their own words in their writing.
Reminders:
Photo orders are due Oct 19,
Book orders are due on Friday.
Homework
Read for 20 minutes.
Spend 20 minutes working on Mathletics assignments.
Have a wonderful evening.
