Students were busy working hard today. Students have been working on poems about themselves. They are thinking about words to use in their poems that describe them accurately and make a strong impact on the reader. To go along with our understanding of ourselves students have been gazing at themselves in mirrors to create accurate self portraits.
For our classroom read aloud we are reading the book Ticket to Curlew. This is a heartwarming story of a family moving to Alberta and setting up a farm on the Alberta prairie. During this time students respond to a variety of questions about the story and we get to share and discuss our answers.
In Math today we explored different numbers. We looked at three and four digit numbers and explained the number of units and the value of those units. For example in the number 457, I have 5 tens and their value is 50.
In Science we worked in groups to look at different images having to do with waste in our world. The students were asked to look at their picture and write:
I think....
I see....
I wonder....
From looking at the images a lot of detailed observations and wonderings were recorded on chart paper.
Have a wonderful evening.
