We would like to thank Mrs. Redd's class for inviting us to their book launch today. We were treated to some amazing stories in the Learning Commons today.
We really dove into our Mini Mall Math project today!! We want to be ready for our buddies to shop tomorrow. All of the students completed stocking their shops with their inventory, and pricing the merchandise. We had a chance to practice with just our class today. We divided the class into two groups. Group 1 was the shoppers, and Group 2 were the sellers. Thanks to some monopoly money each shop started with $100.00 float money. The shoppers all received $300.00 to use to purchase items. We did not practice multiplication today. The students choose what they wanted to purchase and the sellers had to calculated the cost and give the correct change back to the customer. At the end of the shopping time, the shop owners calculated their profits by taking the $100.00 float money away from their cash box and counting the remaining money. Tomorrow we will switch roles so we all have a chance to practice both parts. By Thursday after the practices and working with our buddies we will add in the multiplication piece. I will allow them to use calculators to check their answers on Thursday.
Have a wonderful evening!
