It’s shopping time! Today we opened up our class store in math. Students are creating their own room and are able to buy certain items for their room, such as a couch, chairs, table, etc. Students are given a budget to work with and flyers showing the price of items. Students need to apply their subtraction strategies to show their work to be able to purchase their items. We will be continuing this project throughout the week.
We started a quote of the week. Each week a student will look through the book titled 365 Days of Wonder by R.J. Palacio and they will choose a precept that we will keep in mind for that week. This week our quote is:
“Nothing can make our life, or the lives of other people, more beautiful than perpetual kindness. ----Leo Tolstoy
A notice about Stephen’s Backpack Society and the Food Bank:
It's that time of year again...the Grade 1s will be putting on a Used Toy and Book Sale to help raise money to fill backpacks for children in need throughout the Calgary area. We will be collecting gently used toys and books starting December 1-3. The sale will be held all day on December 4 ending at 4:00. If you would like to come check out the sale after school you are more than welcome. We will also have a donation jar if you do not have any items for the sale. The grade 1s thank you for your support!
