In Daily Five one of the choices students have is to Work on Writing. During this time students explore different forms of writing that they choose independently. Some students choose to write journal entries, some students have written short stories, and now that we have been working on poetry we can add this form of writing to our repertoire. Here is a poem written during yesterday's Daily Five time:
Up and Down
I am a leaf swirling
Twirling up and down
I go like a flying bird. And the wind
gets stronger as I fly
by. I go up and down
again and again, a ballerina
dancing by. The wind
dies down and so
do I.

In Math we began to explore 3-D shapes. We looked at the differences between pyramids and prisms. We then played a games where our partner asked us questions about our solid to try to guess which solid we were thinking of. Questions about number of sides the solid had, and number of vertices, help students to guess correctly.
Spelling test is tomorrow.
Next weeks words will be review words as we only have three days. I
