-Terry Fox Run is September 25, 2014
Highlights:
We started our day off learning our fourth job for the daily, Work on Writing. Students were given choice of what they wanted to write about today and practiced writing and building up their stamina.
In Science we talked more about how sound is created by vibrations. We practiced making different sounds with our voices and felt the vibrations that were made by our voice boxes.
Students watched as we used a balloon to demonstrate how the throat vibrates to make sounds.
In Math we worked towards discovering how many pattern blocks are in our classroom. Students were given handfuls of pattern blocks and were asked to make an estimate as to how many they thought they had. They then worked together to count the blocks and come up with the actual number. Once each group had their actual total we gathered together to figure our how many pattern blocks we had altogether. Students shared different strategies that they could use to figure out our answer.
In Writing we continued work with our class story. We brainstormed different words for 'went' and changed our story to included some of these 'juicy' words.
We will have our spelling test on Friday this week. The words are:
1. because
2. know
3. where
4. hear
5. here
