During our novel read aloud today, students were asked to write a reading response related to the text. The two types of responses that students made were:
1. Writing a prediction related to events in the story
2. Answering an inferential question.
Responding to a novel during the read aloud can help students develop increased comprehension skills. We are also experiencing the novel in a community where together we create shared meaning.
We will continue to write reading responses as part of our novel read aloud.
We practiced our Math stations today. Students were given a choice today as to which station they would like to try. Many students enjoyed the challenge of the Hundred Dollar Word Station. Ask your child which station they tried.
We completed the composition portion of the SLA today. The students were excited to write about all the creative ideas they had for the empty space in the community. Tomorrow we will complete activity 4: Thinking About My Work.
We reviewed the parts of the human ear and students labeled diagrams for the Visual Journals. We then talked about how the parts of the human ear work together to help us detect sounds.
Almost everyone in our class was able to participate in Walking Wednesday. Great job room 58!
Have a wonderful evening.
