In Math today we talked about the learner outcomes for Math in Grade 3. Students were given a chart with the learner outcomes written in student friendly language. Students can use these charts to reflect on their knowledge and skills as we work through our Math program this year. Students were introduced to two more Math stations today. They rolled a nine sided dice to try to create a three digit number that was bigger than their partners. We also began to learn about the game Place Value Blast Off. This game will help students to represent numbers in different ways as well as to order them from least to greatest.
Ask your child to tell you about the strategy they tried to use to create the biggest number for our dice game.
We worked on Activity 2 and 3 of the literacy performance task portion of the SLA. Students had a chance to brainstorm together to think of creative ways to use the empty space. I really enjoyed listening to all of their ideas. Following the large group and small group discussions, students created a plan for how they would like to change the empty space.
In Science we learned about how the human ear detects sounds and the different parts of the ear. Tomorrow we will review this information and label a diagram of the inner ear.
