In Math today we reviewed the names of different polygons, and then created them with the geo-boards and the square dot paper. Please review the different names of polygons with you child tonight.
A polygon with 3 sides is a triangle.
A polygon with 4 sides is a quadrilateral.
A polygon with 5 sides is a pentagon
A polygon with 6 sides is a hexagon.
A polygon with 8 sides is an octagon.
Look around your home for polygons. Name any polygons that you see.
In Social Studies we continued with our research and students were taught how to change their jot notes into sentences. Some students have started turning their jot notes into sentences. Tomorrow will be the final day for students to gather their information. We will not move on to making our posters.
In Writing we created a tool kit at the back of our writer's notebooks with examples of:
Alliteration
Simile
Metaphors
Hyperbole
and a Word Bank of descriptive and/or interesting words.
Students then continued to explore the poetry books and find poems that they would like to recommend to their classmates to read.
Spelling test is Friday.
Please read for 15 minutes. Tell your parents about what you have read about.
Have a wonderful evening!
