As a class we went to the library today to exchange our books. If your child did not have their books here they can bring them tomorrow and going during the day.
In Social Studies we continued our research about India. Students used books to gather information about their topics. They were reading the information and then writing jot notes about the important facts. We talked about the criteria for our posters and shared the rubric that can be found on the Social Studies tab of the grade 3 blog. We reviewed different text features and discussed which ones would work well on our research posters. Features like text boxes, labeled diagrams, maps, titles and headings. Tomorrow we will use the computers to gather information from the website that is also included on the blog. Students can read through the website at home. This will help them to be prepared to jump right in to take their notes.
In Math students completed a "Show what you know" about patterns. Tomorrow in Math we will begin our new unit on Shape and Space.
In Writing we talked about the difference between similes and metaphors. Tell your parents what you understand about similes, metaphors, and personification. When you read your book this evening look for examples in what you are reading and share these with your family.
Spelling test is on Thursday this week as there is no school on Friday.
Practice your spelling words.
Read for 15 minutes.
Have a wonderful evening!
