In Social Studies today we looked closely at the text features included in our Social Studies textbooks. Students noticed how the pages were organized and some of the features that help us to understand the material we are reading. Some of the features we noticed were: large pictures with captions, text boxes, fast facts, chapter questions, and bolded words to name a few. Our next Social Studies project for Ukraine will be to create a page for our own grade 3 textbook that the grade three students will be creating.
In Math we focused on measuring a variety of objects with rulers and recording our results in our notebooks. Students are learning that when we use centimeters to measure objects we should get consistent answers and when we use non-standard measurements our answers will not be the same as our partners.
In Writing today we began looking at the story map to help us plan our stories. We read a story together and filled in the first three boxes of our story map, Characters, Setting and Problem. Then students worked in partners to read a story together and complete the first three boxes on a story map for that book. Here is the story map we will be working with to help plan our stories.

Question of the day:
Please talk with your parents about your answer, then write it down and return it to class tomorrow.
Question:
What are some good reasons for measuring length, using centimeters instead of other units such as paper clips or wooden stir sticks? Use pictures and words to
give your reasons.
Spelling test is Friday.
Have a wonderful evening!
