Wow what an exciting Monday!
In Science today we launched into Building with a variety of materials. Students were given a number of challenges to see what kind of background knowledge they bring to this new unit. The students worked in groups to solve challenges such as: creating the largest house out of cards, building a bridge out of Lego that can support a weight and creating as structure with modeling clay and stir sticks that is 40 cm tall and stable. The students enjoyed the challenges and it was wonderful to see them working together to problem solve.
In Math today we went on a scavenger hunt around the school. We were searching for as many 2-D shapes and 3-D objects as we could find. Students were amazed to see all of the shapes that are in our everyday environment.
In writing today we continued our work with poetry. Students worked on creating their own Haiku poem.
Students are bringing home information about a field trip to the Tim Horton’s Brier at the Saddledome that will take place on Wednesday March 4, 2015.
Please complete these forms and return to school as soon as possible.
Spelling test is on Wednesday this week.
Book orders are due on Wednesday as well.
There is no school Thursday and Friday due to Teachers Convention and Monday February 16, is Family Day,
Swimming
Please note that swimming lessons for our class and Mrs. Redd's class will be on March 2, March 3, March 5 and March 6. Swimming times for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday are from 10:30-11:45 AM. On Friday March 6 we will depart Evergreen School at 9:50 and leave the Canyon Meadows Pool at 11:00. We will be back at school on Friday in time for our 11:15 dismissal.
We would like to start getting an idea of how many parents will be available to volunteer. If you already have your security clearance and you would be available to volunteer for any/all of those days please send me an email. Consent forms will be sent home tomorrow.
Have a wonderful evening.
