We had a busy Friday! In Science today I introduced students to some vocabulary that will help us describe different rocks and minerals. Some of the words that students were introduced to were: properties, characteristics, manufactured and chemical process. We will continue to work with these words during our work with rocks and minerals. To help support our thinking about how we can describe things, I would like students to bring in a mystery object for November 17, 2014.
Students will be giving each other clues about the properties of their mystery objects so that their classmates can try to guess what they brought in.
In Social studies we used Google street view to take a virtual tour of Lima and Tunis. The students then reflected on what they observed in the photos and wrote about their observations.
In math today we learned about fact families for making 10’s . Using fact families is a great strategy for learning basic facts. This is an example of a fact family for the numbers 2, 8 and 10
2+8=10
8+2=10
10-2=8
10-8=2
Reminder:
Please remember to bring your mystery object in on Monday. It can be something small, and should be hidden in a box or a bag.
