We had a wonderful Wednesday today! Over the past week we have been learning some new math centres that focus on place value and our mental math strategies. Today we were introduced to the game “$100 Word.” In this activity each letter of the alphabet is worth a certain amount of money (A=$1, B=$2, C=$3 etc). The goal is to make a word that is worth $100. Today we started with our names, and also practiced some of our spelling letters. Earlier this week we reviewed our strategies for making 10 and our doubles facts to help us with quick addition. Ask you child what strategy they used as they added the value of their letters together.
Tomorrow we are looking forward to learning about our last math centre! We will also be finishing up our Literacy Performance portion of the SLA’s. The students have been working very hard as they think of what to put in an imaginary green space in the community.
Reminders
- Spelling test this Friday
- Pictures and payment are due back Oct. 15
Have a great night!
