Today we did an activity practicing "showing" instead of "telling." Students were involved with some role playing of different emotions, and together as a class we brainstormed what certain emotions "look like." Each table was given a different emotion, and asked to create a list of ways to "show" that rather than "tell" it. For example, rather than saying "Tom was angry" we could say "Tom's face looked as red as a tomato as he angirly stomped into the classroom as loud as he could." Students are excited to start putting these sentences into use in their stories.
