During math students have been working through various multiplication centres. Some are practicing our basic multiplication facts, others have problem solving questions, and students also get a chance to work in a small group with the teacher as they learn multiplication strategies. All of the students are now able to multiply 2 or 3 digit numbers by a 1 digit number, and they are using a variety of strategies to assist them. Ask your child what strategy they like! Please also remember to practice basic facts at home every night.
In social studies we have been continuing to explore legends and learn about their importance. We know that oral storytelling is a big part of aboriginal culture, and legends were often passed down orally. Today we read "How the Fox Got His Crossed Legs." After reading and deconstructing legends into story maps, students realized that many of the characters are often animals. Tomorrow we are going to learn about what different animals can represent and which animals are commonly used as characters in legends.
Reminders
- Opa hot lunch tomorrow for students who ordered
- No school Friday (PD Day for teachers)
Question of the Day
How did the fox get his crossed legs?
Have a great night!
-Mrs. Redd
