Today during writing students got a chance to dive back into some story writing. After looking in picture books for specific examples of setting, characters and problems, students were given a chance to plan their own story using the same format. Students were given three different picture prompts to choose from and planned out their stories. We noticed how much easier it is to start writing a story when we already have a clear picture in our mind about where the story is taking place, who the characters are, and what the problem will be. After spring break we will continue to explore story writing.
Student led conferences are tomorrow - and the kids couldn't be more excited to share their work! Just so you are prepared, students have a "Passport for Learning" that will guide their conversations with you. They will not only be showing off, but will have opportunities to make things with you and to solve problems. You will have an opportunity to see what students are learning, what they are making, and even how they are thinking!
If you have not brought back scholastic book orders you can drop them off tomorrow at conferences.
Question of the Day:
What are you excited about doing during Spring Break?
Have a great break and I’ll see everyone on Monday March 30th.
