Today the students in room 51 traveled to Peru! Using google maps, we virtually placed ourselves in downtown Lima and even Machu Picchu! Students recorded their wonderings and observations based on the images they saw. We tried to look beyond just what we could see, and asked ourselves “What do we want to learn more about?” We will be continuing to work on this throughout the next couple days.
In math, students got a chance to explore sound and action patterns. Working together in their table groups, students had a chance to create and perform repeating patterns involving sounds and actions. We were also amazed at all the different places we discovered patterns last night! The challenge for tonight is to think about patterns that occur in nature. We briefly talked about the differences between man-made and natural patterns. Can you think of where patterns naturally occur?
We have really enjoyed reading, watching videos, and looking at pictures from
Winter break! Thank you to all of the families who participated. We had some great discussions about culture, traditions and celebrations.
Have a wonderful evening!
