It is hard to believe that May is just around the corner! In gym the students have been practicing their badminton skills and today students got a chance to play against partners. After gym we had our spring class photos, and this afternoon we watched the Grade One Assembly which highlighted some of their work. What a busy day!
In math today we reviewed the number line strategy to use with 2 and 3 digit subtraction. Many students remembered the trick to "think addition" when subtracting 2 numbers. For example, instead of thinking 75 - ___ = 25, think instead 25 + ___ = 75. Students used this strategy together with the number line to solve complex problems.
Tomorrow we will be continuing our work with our Artist in Residence, and we will also have a visit from Nicole our OT to continue our work with self regulation. Please bring an old/big shirt to paint in if you are worried about getting clothing dirty (we are working with acrylic paint which will NOT come out of clothing).
Question of the Day
What is your favourite subtraction strategy? Why?
Have a great night!
