Today students enjoyed continuing to work on their India research project. Students have been using a variety of websites and books to find information about their chosen topics. Some students have started writing the first draft of their paragraphs. We have spent time discussing the importance of having a topic sentence, supporting details, and concluding sentence. Eventually students will be using computers to publish their information as a textbook page to add to our class textbook!
Today our class got a chance to spend some time in the learning commons. As a school, we have been thinking about what a “learning commons” really means, and what we want our learning commons to look like. After visiting the learning commons with Mrs. Predika’s class we brainstormed some ideas. We also watched a short video explaining the Dewey Decimal system, and talked about how important it is to take care of the books in our library keep them organized. As a staff, we created various “mission statements” for the learning commons. We would like you and your family to read through them and vote for which is your favourite! The winning one will become the new mission statement for our Evergreen Learning Commons. They are all visible on the Evergreen Learning Commons Website which can be found here: www.evergreenlearningcommons.weebly.com
Have a great night!
