We continued exploring Alberta today with the museokit. Our discussions were focused around the consequences of using Alberta's fossil fuel resources, as well as being introduced to several different renewable energy sources (such as wind, solar, and water). Students worked on creating a poster to answer the question: How can we preserve our natural resources?
We LOVE division! Many students were having trouble with understanding division, but after today we are experts! We talked about fact families, and realized that if we know our multiplication facts, then we also know our division facts! You can easily play this game at home. Use two dice (or write the numbers 1-6 or 1-9 on pieces of paper and pick them from a hat). Roll each of the dice, and write the 2 corresponding multiplication sentences as well as the 2 division sentences. For example, I roll a 4 and a 5.
4 x 5 = 20
5 x 4 = 20
20 '/, 4 = 5
20 '/, 5 = 4
Reminders:
- We are going to fish creek park next Tuesday morning and still require volunteers! Please let me know if you can help us out.
- New division mathletics homework!
Question of the Day
Using the numbers 6 and 8, write down the 2 multiplication sentences and 2 related division sentences.
Have a great night!
