We continued working hard on our Math SLA’s today! Next week we will be moving onto the Literacy Computer portion of the SLA’s. Today in math we explored Estimation. Each table group was given a bin of different manipulatives. The challenge was to first estimate how many objects were on the table, then to use skip counting to quickly and efficiently count to find out the actual number of objects. Some groups came up with some really effective strategies-ask your student about this at home!
In science we had a chance to create our very own musical instrument! Using cups of various sizes and elastic bands we explored how the pitch changed as we made the elastic tighter and changed the length.
As a reminder, there will be a spelling test tomorrow.
Please note that the Halloween Howl Forms and payment are due back this Friday October 17th. Some families have sent back the orange portion of the form but forgot to send payment. Please also see the following information regarding our school’s E-Waste Challenge.
Evergreen School is participating in the "Solve for Tomorrow E-Recycling Challenge". We will be collecting old and broken electronics for recycling next week from October 20-27. Families can also bring their e-recycling to the Halloween Howl on October 23 from 6-8 PM. If our school collects the most e-Waste, we could win $10000 worth of electronics!
Have a lovely evening!
