Drill your children on making 10! It's an important mental math strategy (should be able to blurt the answer without using fingers/tools), and we don't want to spend another minute on it... If you're looking for a game to play, roll a 10 sided dice, have your child tell you how many are needed to make 10. You could also review fact families. For example:
7+3=10
3+7=10
10-7=3
10-3=7
We jumped into our new Science unit this week-Rocks and Minerals! We started with a KWL chart-what we know about Rocks and Minerals, and what we are wondering about. When we finish the unit we will revisit the last portion talking about what we learned. We also got a chance to get hands on experience with different rock sets and looking at a variety of books about Rocks and Minerals.
Just a reminder-please do not bring ANY nut products to school. Although we don’t have any children in our class with allergies, the students eat lunch all together in the gym and there are some students in the school who are severely allergic to nuts of any kind. Thank you for your cooperation.
Tomorrow is the big day. Our classes will be singing and performing for the Remembrance Day assembly at 10:30. Please remind your child to wear red, white, or black. We hope to see you tomorrow morning!
Have a great night!
