Today during math students continued to work on their zoo project. After co-creating our criteria yesterday, today students were presented with a series of checklists to help them work through the project. After completing their rough copy, students will complete a self check, peer check, and teacher check before moving on to good copy. Each check provides students with thoughtful feedback with suggestions to help them “blast off” in their work. Students are realizing how valuable this feedback can be and are learning to be self-reflective learners as they critically evaluate their own work.
In writing we are coming back to look at story writing in more detail. We briefly re-visited different types of story beginnings and looked at an example of a story map. Story mapping helps authors to plan their writing, and ensures that the important elements are included at the proper time. After going through an example together, students set off to look in various picture books to map out the setting, characters and problem of the story.
Muscular Dystrophy pledge forms are due back tomorrow. You can continue to donate online until next Wednesday. Scholastic book orders are due back by next Wednesday March 18.
Question of the Day
What was your favourite dance from our two days of “Hop for Muscular Dystrophy?”
Have a great night!
