Students continued to work on their acrostic poems today. We discussed the importance of editing and revising in the writing cycle, even in poetry! Students had a chance to self and peer-assess, then got started on writing good copies of their work. This gave students a chance to personally reflect on their work and look for their own mistakes, rather than have them teacher corrected.
We continued our investigation of patterns today! We continued to explore increasing patterns. After doing some thinking and investigating last night at home, students were also eager to share all the different places where patterns are found in nature. We also had a chance to look on google images to see some of them. It’s pretty amazing to see how these patterns are naturally created! Here is our list from today: feathers (peacock), snowflakes, Bue Jay, crops in a field, stripes on a Tiger, stripes on a Zebra, stripes on a Bee, design on Butterfly wings, Snake, Cheetah, bushes, Birch tree bark, Canadian Geese flying in a V (increasing), months of the year, days of the week, night/day , seasons, rings on a tree cookie, minerals in rocks, beehives, leaves, waves, flower petals, spider webs.
Just a reminder that there will be a spelling test tomorrow.
Have a great night!
