Students were given a chance to demonstrate their understanding of the rock cycle using some modeling clay. Students were given various colours of clay, along with some beads. The task was to apply what they know about the three types of rocks and show the rock cycle. Students did a great job! These will be coming home next week.
We were given some more fun math challenges today! We started by working on whiteboards to solve the following questions: How many shoes are in the class? If each shoe has 2 shoelaces, how many shoelaces are in the class? We talked about the various strategies we could use to solve the problem and shared them with the our classmates. Then we were given an additional challenge: How many hands are in the class? How many fingers? What about the whole grade? Or school? It was so interesting seeing all the different strategies students used!
One note about Raz Kids. New passwords were sent home today with 2 pictures instead of 1. There have been several issues with students guessing each other’s passwords and stealing the stars on their account. We had a big talk about honesty today. Please also remember that the stars are just an additional feature of Raz Kids. The main purpose of Raz Kids is for students to practice their reading and comprehension.
No school tomorrow for students, and spelling test is on Monday.
Have a great weekend!
