In Science today we concluded our investigation of the question Will one large pillar support more mass than four smaller pillars? Yesterday students worked in groups to see how many textbooks one pillar would support. They were surprised to see how many textbooks one pillar (which was made out of construction paper) could hold. Some groups were able to support 27 textbooks with one pillar. Today students took the same size and type of construction paper and created four pillars. They were astounded to see that four pillars could hold up to 50 textbooks! Tomorrow we will have a class discussion on our results and observations. Next up we will be studying the structure of beams!
This afternoon we had our practice lockdown, and the students did amazing. We talked about how important drills like this are and how seriously they should be taken.
Reminders:
Spelling Test Tomorrow
Basil Order Forms
Scholastic Book Orders due next Friday
Question of the Day

Have a great night!
