Today in room 51 we were Scientists! We were given a challenge and together with our table groups we worked to create a solution to the problem. Using an iPod that was playing a constant sound, we were given the task to make the sound louder without turning the volume up. There were a variety of materials to choose from: boxes, bins, cups, cotton balls, felt, paper, bowls, etc. We made a prediction then tested our predictions and recorded our observations. Mrs. Redd had an app on her phone to measure the loudness of the sound, and most of us were able to create something that amplified the sound! Ask your student about this at home tonight. Why did their creation make the sound louder? What happened to the sound waves?
Tomorrow we will be finishing our watercolour art work. They are looking AMAZING, and they will look even better when they are paired together with our Important Book writing pieces.
Have a great time tonight at the Halloween Howl!
Reminder that tomorrow there will be a spelling test.
Have a great night!
