It's already October?! We had another full day of learning in Grade Three. We started off our morning with some Daily 5 work. We have been busy practicing our spelling words at our different Word Work stations to help us prepare for our spelling test on Friday. Every Friday your student will bring home their spelling test and on the back will be their new words for the following week.
We continued our investigation of Sound by talking about the loudness of different sounds. We learned that the loudness of a sound is measured in decibel's (dB) and we discussed examples of sounds at all different dB. Students learned about the Safety Range and about the Danger Zone of the loudness of sounds, and were asked to come up with some examples of each. Ask me for some examples from each of these at home!
In math today we started the Performance Assessment for the SLA's. This assessment is broken down into five smaller tasks which can be spread out over a number of days. Today we completed task one of five, and tomorrow we will continue with tasks two-five. Students can take breaks as needed while they are working through the tasks. I was really impressed with how well we were able to stay focused and apply our problem solving skills to answer the question. Awesome job Grade Three!
Have a wonderful night.
