We continued our exploration of Alberta today by discussing some of the natural resources that are here in Alberta. Students were introduced to two new terms today: renewable resources and non-renewable resources. We also connected our learning from Science and discussed how some people might overuse/misuse some of our resources, and how important it is to protect them. We will continue this investigation throughout the week with our MuseoKit from the Glenbow Museum.
In math today students made their very own multiplication sentences, without even knowing it! Each student was given a dice and was asked to roll the dice twice. The first number told us how many circles to draw, and the second number told us how many stars to draw inside the circles. Students then recorded various strategies they used to find the answer (doubling a number, repeated addition, skip counting). We will continue to briefly explore multiplication and division this week. Please start to review basic multiplication facts with your child at home. Some mathletics tasks have been assigned to assist you.
Reminders
- Picture Day tomorrow :)
Question of the Day
What is a renewable resource? Give an example.
Have a great night!
