Welcome back! I hope everyone had a great weekend enjoying the lovely fall weather. Today in Social Studies we started our new project making our very own "Important Books" about Quality of Life. Earlier last week we read the book "The Important Book" as our final pattern book in writing. We had a chance to practice our pattern writing about an object that was important to us, then today we brainstormed what we knew about Quality of Life and each got to pick the most important thing to write about. We will be continuing with this throughout the week!
We also had a chance to start task one in the Literacy Performance Assessment for the SLA's. This is set up similar to the Math Performance Assessment, and is broken up into four different tasks. Today the students were introduced to the problem, and had a chance to start the writing process by recording some of their ideas and things they need to consider to solve the problem. We will be continuing with tasks two-four throughout the week.
Tomorrow we are looking forward to continuing to learn our different math centres that focus around place value and mental math strategies. Pictures were sent home today with your child. If you are interested in ordering they must be sent back to the school by October 15. Walking Wednesday will be starting up this week! If possible, encourage your child to walk, bike, or roll to school! If you live far away from the school, consider parking a block or two away from the school and walking from there. Or you can also join our Walking School Bus (look to the school webpage for more details.)
Have a great night!
