What a great first day back! I hope everyone had an enjoyable and restful Winter Break! We have really enjoyed reading as a class the novel The One and Only Ivan. Students got a chance to do a reading response today and sequenced some of the most important events in the story. Ask me about the characters and what has happened in the book so far!
We jumped into some patterning today in math. After reviewing some different types of patterns, each table was given a bin of various objects (interlocking cubes, pattern blocks, shapes, etc.). The task was to create a pattern with the materials at their table. After creating their pattern, students shared them with a partner and their partner had to extend their pattern further. Many students chose repeating patterns, and throughout the week we will be talking more about increasing and decreasing patterns.
Just as a reminder, please send back any signed report card envelopes—just the envelope.
Have a wonderful evening!
