Students have been working SO hard on their fractured fairy tales! Most of us are finished our first draft of our stories, and many are working on illustrations and finishing touches. We have been typing these on google docs, which means that students can work on this at home as long as they have access to a computer. Some students are coming home today with homework! If they have not completed their first draft of their story it needs to be finished at home tonight for homework. This is to ensure students will finish in time for our upcoming "Book Launch." More details to come tomorrow!
Tomorrow morning we have a special presentation in the Learning Commons about building and testing designs. We will be thinking like engineers while we build and create! A big thank you to our volunteers that are coming to help tomorrow. If you are volunteering please arrive to the school at 7:45 and go to the learning commons.
Canstruction Message:
Evergreen School will be participating once again in the annual Canstruction® event in December for the Calgary Food Bank. A group of grade 4 students has taken on the challenge to think like engineers, designers, architects and builders to create an extraordinary structure all out of cans of food which, after judging, will be then de-canstructed, with all food going to the Calgary Food Bank.
This year’s theme is nature. The grade 4 design team has decided to extend their learning about the regions of Alberta and build a model of the Rocky Mountains. In order to make their vision come true, they are looking for canned and boxed food donations. Specifically, they are looking for:
· Catelli 500g spaghetti
· Blue menu cans (Superstore)
· Bottled water with blue lids
· Del Monte green cans
· Great Value white canned foods
· Clover Leaf Flaked White Tuna – black label
All food donations are gratefully accepted and can be dropped off at the school office anytime next week. Thank you for your support of this project which in turn will go to support needy Calgarians.
Question of the Day
Johnny picks 67 apples and wants to put them in bags of 5. How many bags of 5 apples will Johnny have? Will there be any apples left over? If so, how many?
Have a great night!
