To further investigate increasing patterns, students worked on a challenging increasing block pattern today. Students chose a block letter (F, H, E, L), picked their pattern rule (how many blocks they wanted it to grow each time), and using graph paper drew their letter 3 more times while applying their pattern rule. This was a challenging task, and students realized the importance of stating where they were going to add the next block to their pattern.
Today students are bringing home their new spelling words. We discussed the importance of picking words that are challenging, yet also words that will be commonly used in our writing. Students who wanted an extra challenge picked some words from a list of the most common mis-spelled words. Here are the new word wall words for next week:
does

been
come
came

transportation

decreasing
Have a wonderful weekend!!
